I’ve walked more than 15.5 miles since Monday, resulting in sore feet and tanned shoulders. Now I’m eating healthy delicious food and soon I will be joining a gym, and I’m happy that I get the chance to live healthier now that school is over. (Gotta make up for how much I drink somehow.)

Speaking of which, I’m super stoked on seeing Brian Jonestown Massacre tonight. This summer is gonna be great.

Summer vacation is only two weeks away. It seems too good to be true that I will soon have a fulltime job that pays well, and an amazing life next to it. It might not be as cool as couchsurfing around Europe last summer, but not being broke for once will be incredible.

It seems like every time something good happens, something bad happens too, just to balance it all out.

Yesterday I had a job interview with Nokia for a visual design internship in their Advanced Design department. An hour after the interview, he called to offer me the job. I’m excited! It should be an amazing opportunity to gain more experience in interactive and product design, as well as data visualization. The part of me with strong punk ideals feels bad for selling out to a big corporation, but I don’t think I can pass this up.

I was treating the boyfriend and myself to celebratory belgian waffles brunch at Frjtz when I left my phone on the table for a minute, and it was stolen. I’ve been frantically tracking it around the city using Find My iPhone today. It has been turned off the majority of the time, but I get a notification every time it gets turned on for a minute. Each time it was turned on again, it had moved, going from Mission to SOMA, back to Mission and then to Hayes Valley.

We went on a wild goose chase after it, driving to this exact location to look for it. We found ourselves standing outside Frjtz, except it was a different location. The phone had been off for 25 minutes when we got there, and after asking the staff if they had seen anything, I assumed it had moved again.

But it’s still there, 6 hours later.

Never try to predict the weather. You wake up in the morning and it’s sunny? Bring an umbrella. It’s chilly and rainy in the morning? Make sure your sweater is removable, because it’s going to magically turn into a sunny 85 degree day, and you are going to REALLY regret wearing all black and a wool cardigan.
Considering taking the bus? Reconsider. If you’re travelling a distance less than 2 miles, it’s faster to just walk it than to jump on MUNI.
Leave the prejudice back where you came from. That punk you just met smoking cigarettes in the back of Zeitgeist, who was covered in tattoos from top to bottom? He works at Google and is the smartest person you have ever had the pleasure of encountering. He also makes more money than you ever will.

Last week in my Experimentation class we spent the whole classtime drawing an assigned letter on the wall, 4 feet tall. While most people sketched it and then just drew it free hand, I’m too bad at drawing and too OCD for that. I measured how big everything would be, then created a mask using blue tape, then simply filled in the mask and removed the tape. Here, have a timelapse video.

Now I really wanna do the same thing on my kitchen wall.

Got the chance to try my hand at GUI design for the first time this week. We’ve spent the last 10 weeks researching time management habits of graphic design students in my Design Research Methods class, and this is a part of our final solution. There is definitely a lot of work yet to be done on the UI, but I’m still pretty happy with how it came out. Not bad for a newbie, right?

When I met my boyfriend three years ago, Joyce Manor was just another one of those Long Beach bands his friends were in that he couldn’t stop talking about. I saw them half a dozen times playing in living rooms and warehouses.

Now they’re signed and have released a second album and are getting more popular by the day. It’s always weird seeing your favorite unknown bands get famous, but their music deserves appreciation.
