New Years Resolutions
Be better at negotiation. Stop doing freelance work for crap pay.
Cook more — spend less money on eating out.
Only get Starbucks once a week at the very most.
Respond to your damn emails.
Stop putting important things off.
Don’t give up until you get a proper internship.
Keep a journal of designers and firms you admire, and why you like their work.

– — Mia, Californication
I always loved this quote. And I will always love staring into the Pacific and thinking, “This is it. This is where Western civilization ends.” It’s overwhelming and comforting all at once.

Bill Murray Movies as Icons by DKNG Studios
This is such a beautiful poster. I really want to get into making more “fine design” prints to sell. It’s a really rewarding process.

TEEN WITCH
Digging this girl’s photography. It reminds me of Nan Goldin, and it’s in so many ways exactly the style I try to achieve when photographing my own life. Except far more successful.

My friend Andrea is blowing up as an up-and-coming photographer. i’m really proud of her because she just decided one day that she was going to be fucking awesome photographer and she’s...

Wesley, of course, read from the Book of Darnielle, while the next girl read the lyrics of Conor Oberst, a.k.a. the folksinger Bright Eyes. Wesley was disgusted. “Bright Eyes is not a man, he’s just a boy,” Wesley told me. “Bright Eyes is just this over the top ‘I am wussy man, here me roar.’ Did you know the word virtue comes from the Latin word for man? You get too sensitive, you lose your...

Frank Chimero: Design Advice →
Some great advice right here that every graphic design student should read.
Scissors are good, music is better, and mixed drinks with friends are best.
If you can’t draw as well as someone, or use the software as well, or if you do not have as much money to buy supplies, or if you do not have access to the tools they have, beat them by being more thoughtful. Thoughtfulness is free and burns on...

the mountain goats maps
And I’m done! I ran out of time, so I ended up only doing four albums, but I might do more in the future. Here they are, packaged separately in an envelope, with each map being a card that folds out into a mini-poster.
Let’s all just pretend that typo isn’t there…
These are now for sale here, no typo included!

starksandrecreation asked: I really love The Mountain Goats map that you just posted. (I follow The Mountain Goats tracked tag. I promise I'm not completely creepy.) I was wondering if you were planning on selling copies/prints when you were done. Or sharing the projects as it progresses. Either way it's really neat.
